FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

These are common questions most of my students ponder. Feel free to contact me or ask me in class anything that may be on your mind about academics.

What should I do if I am absent?

I understand life happens and if you know you will be absent for an appointment or other reasons, please let me know and you can get your work for the day of the absence. All work will be posted on Google Classroom with the information to help you succeed. This serves as another option. All makeup work must be submitted within one week of the absence.

What is the procedure for late assignments?

I hope you follow the standard for excellence and submit all assignments on time. However, I understand life happens and I will accept makeup assignments. Each student will receive three oops passes each semester. You may submit the oops pass on the day of the assignment and you must turn the assignment in within a week from the submission date. This is not a homework pass.

Can I have extra credit?

I do not assign extra credit work to make up work that you have not turned in. Extra means more, not in place of the initial work. I will give enrichment work for students that seek out a challenge.

Can I use technology (phone, tablet) in class?

I believe in allowing students to use the benefits of technology in the classroom. The district has provided you with many website tools and we will use them. If at anytime you are using your phone or device for something other than the assignment given by me, you will lose your privilege and be assigned a modified assignment with pen and paper.

What should I do if I am failing?

This is a serious question and I hope this never occurs. However, I am committed to your success and will reach out to you if I see that you need help. In addition, I will speak with you about during tutoring hours.

Likewise, I want you to reach out to me and ask as many questions as you need to help you become successful.

Will I have homework?

Of course! Homework is a way for me to see if you can do what we talk about in class, on your own. Remember, our goal is to help you become proficient in the English language. This means you must practice, homework is practice!
